I was honored and excited to be invited to speak at Camp Miva 2025, an exciting and educational gathering of eCommerce professionals, merchants, and industry experts, all coming together to share insights, strategies, and best practices. Unlike a typical marketing conference, Camp Miva was about community, education, and innovation, covering a wide range of topics beyond digital marketing—from business operations and platform development to financial management, logistics, and customer experience.
Miva has always been more than just an eCommerce platform. It’s a hub for entrepreneurs and businesses looking to refine their strategies, optimize their stores, and adapt to an increasingly competitive digital landscape. This year’s event reinforced why Miva continues to be a leading choice for merchants who want flexibility, scalability, and control over their online stores.
My Presentation: AI, SEO, and the Changing Search Landscape
One of the sessions I had the privilege of leading was on “The Evolution, Impact, and Future of AI in SEO.” AI is reshaping how search engines operate and how customers find products, and businesses that fail to adjust their SEO strategies will struggle to keep up.
Despite the headlines claiming “SEO is dead,” the reality is that AI is not killing SEO—it’s changing the rules. Search has always evolved, from early keyword-stuffing tactics to Google’s algorithm updates that prioritized content quality, user experience, and credibility. Now, with AI-driven search engines and generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity AI, and Google’s SGE (Search Generative Experience), search behavior is shifting yet again.
Key Takeaways from My Session
- Search is no longer just about Google. Consumers are turning to Amazon, Walmart, and Target as product search engines. Meanwhile, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram are becoming major players in product discovery and research. Brands that focus solely on ranking in Google are missing out on how people actually search today.
- Generative AI is disrupting traditional search behavior. AI-generated answers, zero-click searches, and AI-driven personalization mean brands need to optimize not just for keywords but for context, credibility, and engagement across multiple platforms.
- The core principles of SEO still hold value. While AI is changing how information is processed, search engines will continue to prioritize Code (technical SEO), Content (high-quality and authoritative), Credibility (backlinks, citations, and brand mentions), and Customer Experience (site speed, usability, and engagement).
- Marketers need to shift from tactical SEO to strategic visibility. AI can automate many SEO tasks, but strategy, brand positioning, and human creativity will always be essential. Success in AI-driven search requires understanding customer intent, optimizing for multi-channel discovery, and building a strong digital presence beyond Google.
These discussions sparked some great conversations with merchants and eCommerce professionals looking to navigate these changes. AI is moving fast, and those who adapt will stay ahead.
Camp Miva: More Than Just Marketing
While my session focused on AI and SEO, Camp Miva 2025 was much more than a marketing discussion. The event brought together a diverse range of topics essential for running a successful eCommerce business, including:
- eCommerce operations and logistics – Managing inventory, fulfillment, and supply chain efficiency in an evolving retail landscape.
- Financial strategies for online businesses – How eCommerce companies can optimize profitability, navigate economic challenges, and plan for long-term growth.
- Customer experience and retention – The importance of personalization, loyalty programs, and high-quality service to keep customers engaged.
- Technical advancements in Miva’s platform – New features, integrations, and best practices to help merchants optimize their stores for performance and conversions.
What stood out most was the sense of community—merchants sharing real-world experiences, learning from each other, and supporting one another in growing their businesses. Miva continues to foster an environment where eCommerce professionals can collaborate, exchange ideas, and build lasting relationships.
